AudioUtils

About AudioUtils

AudioUtils is a free, browser-based audio converter. It converts MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, M4A, and every other common audio format — entirely on your device, without uploading anything.

Why we built it

Most online audio converters work by uploading your file to a remote server, processing it there, and sending it back. That means your audio — voice memos, interview recordings, unreleased music, podcast drafts — passes through infrastructure you don't control and may be stored, logged, or retained indefinitely.

We built AudioUtils on a different premise: the conversion should happen where the file already is — on your machine. WebAssembly makes this possible. We compile FFmpeg, the industry-standard audio processing engine, to run natively in your browser. The result is a converter that is simultaneously faster, more private, and works offline once loaded.

The free tier gives you 5 conversions per month with a 10-second output preview. Pro removes those limits entirely — unlimited conversions, full-length output, and files up to 500 MB.

How it works

Your files never leave your device

Every conversion runs locally in your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. We have no servers processing your audio, no temporary storage, and no ability to access your files — because they never reach us.

No install. No plugin. No signup required.

Open a browser, select a file, convert. That's it. AudioUtils works on Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge — on Mac, Windows, iPhone, Android, and Linux. Nothing to install, nothing to configure.
