On iPhone, converted files save to your Files app. Tap the download link and choose where to save.
Both OGG and M4A are lossy formats. Each re-encode can degrade quality slightly. Convert once and keep the result. The output is identical regardless of which device or browser you use.
Frequently Asked Questions
Should I use M4A or MP3?
M4A if you're targeting Apple devices specifically (iPhone, iPad, iTunes, Apple Music). MP3 if you need maximum hardware compatibility (older car stereos, cheap MP3 players, anything pre-2010). M4A is more efficient (smaller files at same quality) but slightly less universal.
What bitrate should I pick?
256 kbps AAC is the gold standard — Apple Music streams at 256 kbps, and it's near-transparent on most material. 192 kbps for everyday music. 128 kbps for voice and podcasts. Don't go below the source OGG bitrate — that compounds the lossy artifacts.
Is the M4A inside an MP4 container?
Yes. M4A and MP4 are the same container — the difference is just the file extension hint. Some players expect '.m4a' specifically (iTunes, Apple Music), others read '.mp4' fine. Our output uses '.m4a' for maximum Apple-ecosystem compatibility.
Does Opus inside OGG convert too?
Yes. The converter detects OGG Vorbis vs OGG Opus and decodes accordingly before encoding to AAC. Opus is particularly common in Discord exports, WhatsApp voice notes, and some web audio — all convert to M4A cleanly.
Will Apple Music sync the M4A to my devices?
Yes. M4A files added to your Apple Music library sync to iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch (paired iPhone), and Apple TV through normal iCloud Music Library / Sync Library. OGG files are simply ignored by Apple Music.
Will tags transfer from OGG to M4A?
Common tags (title, artist, album, year, genre, track number) transfer from OGG's Vorbis comments to M4A's iTunes-style atoms. Album art transfers. Some less common tags may not map cleanly — verify in iTunes or Mp3tag if you have a curated library.
